PAY AND BENEFITS

 

Annual Pay Range*: $93,581.74 - $118,476.45

 

Hourly Pay Range*: $44.99 - $56.95

 

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position. This position is classified as an IT Administrator 1.

 

* Rates are effective as of July 1, 2025.

Clackamas County's Department of Technology Services has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cybersecurity Analyst. This critical position is dedicated to safeguarding our enterprise infrastructure from both internal and external threats, making it an engaging and rewarding opportunity for cybersecurity professionals.

 

Under the guidance of our Systems Architect and Deputy Director, the Cybersecurity Analyst plays a central role in defending the integrity of our digital systems. In this role, you will monitor the enterprise network for unusual activity, perform vulnerability assessments, and work closely with system owners to address threats. You will configure and manage alerts using SIEM tools, monitor event logs, and conduct root cause analysis of security incidents to identify and resolve issues. You will also help lead our cybersecurity awareness efforts by training staff on best practices, social engineering tactics, and secure data handling procedures. You will support security testing initiatives, coordinate with third-party vendors for penetration testing, and ensure our technology partners meet cybersecurity compliance standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and refinement of security policies and procedures to keep pace with evolving threats.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in enterprise technology support, with a solid understanding of operating systems, enterprise applications, enterprise networks, and their interactions that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position

• Demonstrated experience in security principles and practices, particularly in vulnerability and threat analysis

• Demonstrated experience with cyber and information security frameworks and industry best practices (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls, ISO).

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks like CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), or PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)

• Ability to perform after-hours emergency response on a call-out basis

 

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• Certification in CompTIA Security+, CYSA+, ISC2 CC, SSCP, or a comparable credential

• Experience with Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and Security Incident and Even Management (SIEM) deployment and operations

• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and related security tools

• Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and incident response methodologies

• Knowledge of scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to enhance security operations

TYPICAL TASKS

 

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

 

• Assists in ongoing and routine identification and detection of unauthorized assets and software within the enterprise network. Continuously monitor for and recognize suspicious and malicious activities.

• Assess systems for compliance with security requirements and policies.

• Identify and manage stagnant user, service, and system accounts.

• Perform vulnerability assessments to identify both internal and external threats. Assists in remediation efforts for vulnerabilities in collaboration with system owners and relevant stakeholders.

• Utilize Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) tools to conduct routine monitoring and identify suspicious activities. Configure and maintain tailored SIEM alerts in accordance with established detection rules and signatures.

• Train the workforce on cybersecurity awareness, including social engineering attacks, authentication practices, and best practices for data handling.

• Performs security penetration testing with internal and third-party providers as directed.

• Assist in the formulation and implementation of policies, standards, and guidelines. Makes recommendations to higher-level staff on revisions to security guidelines.

• Maintain inventory and assess technology service providers for security compliance.

• Performs routine root cause analysis of security-related events.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

 

This is not a remote work position. This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the https://dochub.clackamas.us/documents/drupal/9065b5fb-2237-47ce-9534-e7c8c40fc2bc and based on the Department's business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. The incumbent will be expected to report on-site for in-person meetings, team collaboration, trainings, or other operational needs as determined by the department.

 

Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Telework from any other state is not allowed. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.
