Machine Learning Intern
The municipal finance market is the primary source of capital financing to build roads, bridges, schools, water systems, and other essential infrastructure in the U.S. The market is extremely diverse and decentralized, with more than 40,000 individual borrowers – creating opportunities for advanced data analysis to streamline credit analysis and improve market efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Machine Learning Intern will explore how BAM can expand our use of extensive datasets to improve our decision-making capabilities in the public finance space. Working with senior leaders from departments across the firm, and in close partnership with IT, the intern will investigate how we can leverage machine learning to create new, and improve existing, processes for credit analysis and fixed-income pricing.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD level program in Machine Learning, AI, Data Science, etc.
- Interest in applying ML techniques to real-world business problems
- Some experience in ML/AI tools within Amazon AWS preferred
- Strong analytic skills with knowledge of Office365 (especially Excel)
- Interest in learning about public finance and economics
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong work ethic with a desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and growing organization
- This position will require regular in-office work (hybrid remote and in-office)
- The candidate must be legally authorized to permanently work in the United States
