Job Title: Intern - Technical Operations Analyst
Location: Salt Lake City, UT

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a solid foundation in data analysis, software development, and SQL. Experience with building database queries and working in collaborative development environments is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

System Support:
Provide support for our proprietary flood and earthquake customer service and claims system, ensuring smooth operation and timely issue resolution.

Reporting & Compliance:
Assist in preparing and submitting monthly activity reports to corporate stakeholders and state tax entities. Contribute to the enhancement of reporting systems to improve business intelligence capabilities.

Software Testing & Upgrades:
Participate in testing processes and report validation during the SQL/PHP upgrade of our proprietary system. Track progress on programming enhancements and bug fixes within our SQL/PHP-based software environment.

Platform Modernization:
Collaborate with developers to transition our proprietary software to a modern platform, expanding support for various Difference in Conditions insurance products.

Marketing:
Assist in efforts to modernize the company web site including eventually tying it to the proprietary customer service and claims system. Build an agent portal that is also tied to the proprietary customer service and claims system and can provide agents with access to copies of their insured's policies and help them monitor their book size within the program.

Underwriting Support:
Develop tools and visualizations to support underwriters in improving accuracy and decision-making. This includes mapping existing risks, expired policies, and historical claims data.

Internal Tech Support:
Provide technical assistance to employees for workstation, phone, printer, and other internal IT issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience writing complex queries
  • Familiarity with PHP and software development practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with data visualization or mapping tools is a plus
