This position serves as a Project Coordinator supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) performing complex professional and advisory functions in Client Services.
In this role you will confer with program-based staff requesting IT projects to determine if projects require governance, as required by the EPMO process and will work with technical and business staff to develop project tasks, timelines, and schedules.
In addition, you will track projects through the planning, development and implementation providing coordination and communication between program-based staff, technical staff, CMS staff and other stakeholders.
This position serves as a Section Document Management Specialist for the purposes of updating and maintaining Section information on the internal One-Net site and software configuration management tools and keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

Essential Functions
• Under administrative direction, serves as a Project Coordinator for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) performing complex professional and advisory functions in Client Services.
• Confers with staff who are requesting IT projects to determine if projects required governance, as required by the EPMO process.
• Works with technical and business staff to develop project tasks, timelines, and schedules.
• Serves as a Section Document Management Specialist for the purposes of updating and maintaining Section information on the internal One-Net site and software configuration management tools.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
• Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Client Services or a related Information Technology field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Three (3) years of professional experience leading complex IT projects, including managing budgets and resources, coordinating timelines, managing cross-functional teams, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with enterprise governance processes.
• Three (3) years of professional experience advising project teams and program stakeholders on IT governance requirements, preparing and reviewing documentation such as charters, requirements, and project artifacts to support decision-making and ensure audit readiness.
• Three (3) years of professional experience facilitating stakeholder engagement and conducting business process analysis to elicit, document and validate detailed functional and technical requirements for enterprise-level systems.
• Three (3) years of professional experience developing and validating business and functional specifications and reviewing technical documentation to ensure alignment with business needs and compliance with project objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent IT projects or initiatives, analyze complex systems or workflows, and prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships across technical, programmatic, and administrative teams to facilitate communication, resolve conflicts, and achieve project goals.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to clearly document requirements, prepare executive-level summaries, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
