Job Description and Duties
The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one Permanent Full-time Information Technology Specialist II position within the Information Technology Services Division, Network Services Unit. This position is to be located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.
Under the general direction of the Network and Operations Manager (Information Technology Manager I), the Information Technology Specialist II will function as an Enterprise Network and Cloud Architect and be responsible for the implementation, administration, and analysis of the complex network, cloud infrastructure and security systems within the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI).
This role serves as the department's highest-level technical expert for enterprise-wide network systems and infrastructure components. Utilizing IT best practices, the Enterprise Network and Cloud Architect leads enterprise-wide network and cloud system implementation projects and is responsible for the maintenance, operations, and configuration of both physical and virtual network environments. This includes ensuring the availability, performance, and security of enterprise network systems in accordance with government regulations, industry standards, and service management frameworks. Additional responsibilities include designing and reviewing network and cloud architecture; researching emerging technologies and trends in network and cloud infrastructure; performing advanced analysis, remediation, and reporting of network and security events; and, managing change and incident tickets, including coordination with vendors and cloud service providers.

Minimum Qualifications
One year as an Information Technology Specialist I; or
Five years of information technology experience, one year of which shall include experience in a lead or expert capacity performing a variety of progressively responsible technical or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging information technology field.
A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for four years of the required general information technology experience. An associate's degree from an accredited college may substitute for two years of the required general information technology experience. Only one degree may be used for substitution.
When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work.
