This position serves as a System Operations Controller for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), in performing computer operating functions using operating system commands to monitor Information Technology (IT) environments, serving DoIT client agencies.
In this role you will perform job control procedures including review, research, and analysis work to resolve scheduling or job stream errors using Job Control Language (JCL).
In addition, you will work closely with technical personnel including application, system analysts and production control staff daily with review and reporting of batch processing issues.

Essential Functions
- Under general supervision, serves as a System Operations Controller for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing journey-level operation control procedures for processing information in an Enterprise Information Technology (IT) environment, including multi-platform computer installation utilizing a variety of operating system commands, automated scheduling software, and archival report distribution software for assigned client agencies.
- Performs job control procedures including the review and research analysis work to resolve scheduling or job stream errors utilizing Job Control Language (JCL), available documentation, and procedures.
- Assists and collaborates with technical personnel including application, system analysts, and production control staff on a daily basis to report batch job and or schedule problems or errors.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field and in all areas of Input Services by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires one (1) year of related data processing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of professional experience performing computer system operation functions in a large-scale, multi-platform enterprise IT environment, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving job control issues using Job Control Language (JCL).
- One (1) year of professional experience utilizing mainframe interfaces such as Rocket BlueZone or equivalent, with demonstrated skills using Time Sharing Options/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF).
- Working knowledge of automated job scheduling and batch processing tools, such as CA-Scheduler, Zeke, or comparable enterprise-level scheduling software for managing, tracking, and re-running batch and production workflows.
- Working knowledge of archival and report distribution software such as Mobius View, with the ability to store, access, and distribute job output logs efficiently and securely.
- Working knowledge of mainframe operating environments, MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage), and associated control commands used to manage batch processing and job streams.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve abends or system errors independently or in collaboration with lead personnel, including editing JCL and applying resolution techniques.
- Ability to accurately document job outcomes, problem resolutions, and operational status updates in production control logs, shift reports, and system tracking tools.
- Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information clearly and precisely to diverse audiences, including business users, development teams, and agency executives.
