Overview

The Source of Hope is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Information Technology Specialist Emerging Professional to assist with data entry, system management, and digital process improvements. This position offers practical, hands-on experience in data analytics, IT systems, website management, and database administration within a nonprofit environment.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, organized, and eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world operations while helping enhance The Source of Hope’s digital infrastructure and community impact.

Compensation

This is an unpaid Emerging Professional internship offering mentorship and valuable experience in IT systems and data management.

Schedule

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM

     
  • Thursday: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM

     
  • Monthly Volunteering Event: Fourth Saturday, 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM

     
  • Up to 20 hours per week

     

Emerging Professional Program

The Source of Hope’s Emerging Professional Program helps college students and young adults gain hands-on professional experience while developing leadership, technical, and communication skills in a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in data entry, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets

     
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems preferred

     
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Squarespace, or related website platforms

     
  • Understanding of SEO strategies and best practices

     
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

     
  • Ability to type at least 70 words per minute

     
  • Tech-savvy, analytical, and self-motivated

     
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI for data visualization is a plus

     

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

     
  • Currently enrolled in or pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

     
  • Prior experience in data management, web development, or analytics preferred but not required

     

Responsibilities

  • Compile and input volunteer, donor, and event data into Salesforce

     
  • Maintain and update digital records, spreadsheets, and reports

     
  • Monitor data accuracy and integrity across systems

     
  • Assist with website maintenance and updates using WordPress or similar platforms

     
  • Analyze data trends and generate summary reports

     
  • Support IT functions such as troubleshooting and optimizing workflows

     
  • Create and distribute surveys to improve data collection

     
  • Develop visual reports in Power BI or Tableau for leadership insights

     
  • Participate in Serving Hope community events (4th Saturday, 6 AM – 1 PM)
