Freelance Opportunity: Retail Specialist

Workflow Definition: Collaborate with our AI and engineering teams to define the most common research-based workflows within the retail domain (e.g., demand forecasting, inventory optimization, pricing strategy, customer experience management, merchandising, or omnichannel sales planning).

Evaluation Creation: Develop and create comprehensive evaluations and test cases to assess the completion of these defined workflows. This involves specifying inputs (e.g., sales data, customer behavior trends), expected outputs (e.g., optimal pricing, demand projections), and criteria for success.

Capability Assessment: Design evaluations to assess the key capabilities of the LLM in handling complex retail tasks, including product categorization, customer segmentation, trend identification, supply chain risk assessment, and competitive benchmarking.

Data Curation & Annotation: Provide guidance on identifying and curating high-quality retail data and content (e.g., POS data, SKU-level sales, customer reviews, competitor pricing) that is essential for training and fine-tuning the LLM.
- Feedback & Iteration: Work closely with the product team to provide constructive feedback on the LLM’s performance and suggest improvements to enhance its accuracy, domain relevance, and business applicability in retail.
Key Requirements

Domain Expertise: 12+ years of practical, professional experience in one of the following fields:
- Merchandising & Category Management: Experience with assortment planning, pricing, promotions, and product lifecycle management.
- Supply Chain & Operations: Expertise in demand planning, logistics optimization, procurement, and inventory control.
- E-commerce & Omnichannel Retail: Experience with digital merchandising, customer journey mapping, and online-to-offline sales strategies.
- Retail Strategy & Consumer Insights: Background in competitive analysis, consumer behavior research, and go-to-market strategy.

Store Operations & Customer Experience: Experience with store performance optimization, workforce management, and enhancing in-store experiences.
- Experience Levels: Open to senior and mid-level, and executive professionals.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to break down complex retail processes into logical, measurable steps.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex retail concepts to a non-retail audience.
- Technical Acumen: A basic understanding of AI, machine learning, or experience working with technical teams is a significant plus.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for creating accurate and robust evaluation criteria
Role Details:
- Contract: 40 hrs/week (remote)
- Pay: Up to $17.5K/month (based on experience)
Scope: Define retail workflows, test AI outputs (e.g., product categorization, inventory planning), curate data, and provide expert feedback
- Engagement: Final selection subject to client approval
- Commitment Period: 3* months from 15 September (*negotiable)
