Private Equity Summer Analyst

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1997, Vector Capital is a leading middle-market private equity firm specializing in spinouts, buyouts, and recapitalizations of established software and technology businesses. Vector has $5 billion of capital under management across several private equity funds and a credit opportunity hedge fund.

Vector’s Private Equity Investment Team

Vector’s private equity team seeks to make both control and minority investments in established technology businesses with enterprise values of $200M to $1B. With a focus on relative value, the typical Vector investment is often characterized by operational transformations or situational complexity in strong end markets. The firm has a highly flexible investing mandate which spans technology verticals (software, hardware, internet, industrial, etc.) and investing strategies (take-privates / LBOs, carve-outs, growth equity, PIPEs / public stocks, credit, etc.).

 

 

OPPORTUNITY

Vector Capital seeks Summer Analysts to join its team in San Francisco for Summer 2026 from June to August, with exact timing TBD based on candidate academic schedule. Note that the position is in our San Francisco office 4 days / week. A successful candidate will work on a variety of projects related to the investment process, analysis, due diligence, and working with portfolio companies. 

 

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

What we look for:

  • Strong academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.7)
  • Solid quantitative and financial modeling skills
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, business acumen, and judgement
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate efficiently with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work fast-paced environments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in finance either as an internship or as a major / demonstrated area of interest
  • Experience or strong interest in technology
