Position Summary
The American Teachers Alliance is seeking a motivated, creative, and strategic college student for a remote Spring 2026 internship as a Social Media & Video Content Creator to become the digital voice of our non-union teacher association. Your mission is to produce high-impact short and long form video content and static posts that resonate with American educators and student teachers, pre-k through college level. Your created content supports our vision and mission, and drives engagement and membership growth. This is a 15‑week internship (February–May 2026) for students enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university, and it is credit-eligible for 60-75 hours.
Compensation
$750 stipend paid on May 30, 2026, upon successful completion of all deliverables. Estimated time commitment: 4 – 5 hours per week; 60- 75 hours total for 15-week assignment from early February 2026 through May 2026.
Responsibilities
- Create and edit high‑quality promotional video content aligned with ATA’s mission, guided by ATA’s list of themes, calls to action, and content guidelines.
- Create static image posts with calls to action and hashtags.
- Optimize created content for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok.
- Post content on ATA’s social media channels per the “Deliverables” list below.
- Collaborate with ATA leadership weekly on themes, messaging, and content goals.
- Ensure consistent branding, calls to action, and engagement strategies.
- Plan content calendar themes and schedule with ATA.
Qualifications
- Student enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university located in America.
- Experience creating and editing video content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Must provide links to previous creations/portfolio showcasing samples.
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social‑media strategy, and engagement practices.
- Self-starter with a proactive positive attitude.
- Basic experience with video creation and editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe, or Canva.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage weekly posting schedules.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Creativity, professionalism, and alignment with ATA’s mission and values.
- Mindset: A passion for supporting teachers and a deep understanding of ATA’s mission.

Internship Deliverables
- 21 unique pieces of content created, as specified below, based on 10 unique ATA themes, for a total of 77 total posts on each of ATA’s social media channels as specified below, each having an ATA-approved call to action and hashtags for (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok) spread out over the 15 weeks, including:
- 7 long videos (8 - 10 minutes each) including audio– posted once every other week for 15 weeks on YouTube, X, & Facebook. (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14); (7 long video posts on 3 platforms = 21 posts).
- 7 short‑form videos including audio (7-15 second reels/shorts) content aligned with each long video – short videos will be posted every other week (Weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15) alternating with long-video weeks; short videos will be posted on YouTube, TikTok, X, Instagram, and Facebook. (7 short video posts on 5 platforms = 35 posts).
- 7 static image posts from the video themes with call‑to‑action messaging and hashtags, posted once every other week starting in Week 2 a few days apart from the short video posts; – (7 static posts on 3 platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and X = 21 posts).
- All content must be approved by ATA and published on ATA’s social media channels with hashtags.
- Engagement and Audience Growth – Monitor engagement metrics for each post and adjust content and strategy accordingly.
- Trend Jacking – Opportunity to identify and pivot on educational trends and news and present your content ideas to ATA on weekly call.
- Algorithm Optimization – Execute platform-specific strategies (e.g. polls).
