Internship Overview

Chase Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservancy offers a hands-on, mission-driven IT internship designed for students and recent graduates interested in technology, digital systems, and real-world problem solving within a nonprofit environment.

This internship provides practical experience supporting the sanctuary’s digital infrastructure, automation systems, and online engagement tools. Interns play an important role in improving internal operations and enhancing the public’s digital experience while contributing to wildlife conservation efforts.


 

Internship Details

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship that includes a weekly stipend to help offset expenses:

  • $75 per week – 40 hours/week
  • $50 per week – 30 hours/week
  • $25 per week – 20 hours/week

Schedule Options:

  • 40 hours/week – 4 months
  • 30 hours/week – 6 months
  • 20 hours/week – 8 months

Work Schedule: Flexible, based on internship hours
Meetings: 2–3 meetings per week (virtual and/or on-site) to set goals, review progress, and coordinate tasks
Work Style: Highly independent, self-directed work environment


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with website redesign to improve user experience, navigation, and functionality.
  • Support setup, maintenance, and optimization of the sanctuary’s e-commerce platform (Ecwid).
  • Help develop and maintain digital automations using tools such as Airtable, Zapier, and Google Workspace.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with setup, installation, and optimization of computers, printers, Wi-Fi, and basic networking equipment.
  • Support the development and testing of the public webcam experience for visitor engagement.
  • Assist with digital systems used during tours and events (TV screens, videos, connectivity, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and integrations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Attend required meetings and collaborate with team members in a respectful, friendly, and drama-free work environment.


 

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Software Engineering
    • UX/UI Design
    • Web Development
    • Digital Media
    • Systems Engineering
    • Or a related field
  • Minimum commitment of 4 months.
  • Availability for 20, 30, or 40 hours per week.
  • Basic knowledge of website platforms (WordPress, Wix, Ecwid, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools (Google Workspace, Airtable) and automation tools (Zapier) preferred.
  • Ability to learn new technical skills quickly.
  • Strong communication, time management, and self-discipline skills.
  • Reliable transportation for required on-site visits.
