Job Title: Systems/Data Administrator and Trainer
Location: Juab School District - Nephi, UT
Employment Type: Full Time - 254 Day Contract
Contact: Gavin Anderson gavin.anderson@juabsd.org
Position Summary
The Systems & Data Administrator is the lead technical orchestrator for the district?s digital infrastructure. This role is responsible for the health, security, and deep integration of a vast catalog of mission-critical educational and operational platforms. Centered on a "people-first, tech-second" philosophy, the Administrator ensures that technology serves as a seamless catalyst for learning rather than a hurdle for educators.
A primary focus of this role is bridging the gap between complex technology and our diverse user base, including staff, teachers, instructional coaches, and students. Success requires high technical mastery paired with the coaching and mentorship skills necessary to empower both the Technology team and the wider district community.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Relational Leadership & Stakeholder Coaching
- Service-Oriented Culture: Lead with empathy and a "how can I help you win?" mentality, ensuring IT solutions are designed with the end-user?s classroom or office experience in mind.
- Instructional Bridging: Act as a technical liaison for instructional coaches and teachers to ensure classroom tools are effective and understood.
- Empathetic Training: Design and deliver accessible training sessions that empower non-technical staff, reducing "tech-anxiety" and increasing district-wide efficiency allowing those we serve to take full advantage of the range of technology resources available to them.
- Relational Equity: Build high-trust partnerships across all district departments to facilitate smooth technology adoption and collaborative problem-solving.
2. Team Mentorship & Internal Training
- Tech Team Upskilling: Identify knowledge gaps within the Technology team and lead internal training sessions.
- Documentation: Build comprehensive support guides and "train-the-trainer" resources for newly implemented systems.
- T2/T1 Support: Provide high-level mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians to solve difficult issues and grow their technical capacity.
3. SIS Administration & Data Architecture
- Core SIS Management: Serve as lead administrator for the district?s Student Information System (SIS), managing updates and stability.
- Data Integrity: Oversee annual rollovers, perform deep-level data management, and develop custom SQL reports.
- State Compliance: Direct the State Reporting lifecycle and student identification (SSID) protocols.
4. Systems Integration & Identity Management
- Platform Orchestration: Manage deep integration and interoperability of the district's educational software suite.
- Identity & Access (SSO): Lead administration of Google Workspace and SSO environments for secure student and staff access.
- Fleet Management: Administer district-wide Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms to handle configuration, app deployment, and security for the district?s hardware fleet.
- District Event Support: Coordinate high-level technical logistics for large-scale events, testing windows, extra curricular activities, and other on and off hour support needs.
- Optimization & Documentation: Clean up, optimize, and organize existing products and services. Active Directory, Jamf, Google Workspace, and other platforms need an established data hygiene plan created and executed and well-documented.
- Innovation and Exploration: Keep a close eye on the tech landscape in the K12 space watching trends, emerging technologies, evolving best practices, and overall keeping the district at the forefront of an ever-changing industry.
Experience & Qualifications
Interpersonal & Coaching Mastery: Demonstrated ability to build trust and successfully coach individuals with varying levels of technical expertise.
K-12 Expertise: At least 4 years of direct experience in a K-12 Educational Technology environment, with a deep understanding of the "human side" of school operations.
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of PowerSchool, SQL, and Identity Management, and MDM platforms.
Education & Certification: Professional certifications in systems administration are highly valued. Bachelor?s degree or significant equivalent professional experience in a lead technical role may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
