Summer Technology Intern (Web Development & Design) – Heads Up

Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–15 hours/week
Duration: Summer 2026
Compensation: Volunteer (eligible for service hours)

About Heads Up

Heads Up is a fast-growing, youth-led nonprofit focused on digital wellness, with 70+ clubs across 20+ states reaching over 10,000 students nationwide. We are building a movement to help the next generation develop healthier relationships with technology.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Summer Technology Intern to lead the redesign and ongoing development of our website (headsupclubs.org). This is a high-impact role focused on transforming our current site into a more polished, professional, and scalable platform that reflects our national reach and mission.

The intern will work directly with our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and broader tech team to execute a full website refresh and implement improvements in design, structure, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end redesign of the Heads Up website (design, layout, and structure)
  • Improve overall user experience, navigation, and visual credibility
  • Collaborate with the CTO to determine the best platform (e.g., Webflow, Squarespace, etc.)
  • Implement updates and ensure the site is easy to maintain long-term
  • Continuously update and optimize content to reflect new initiatives and growth
  • Incorporate best practices in modern web design and performance

Qualifications

  • Experience with website design and/or development (Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, or similar)
  • Strong eye for clean, modern, and professional design
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a project
  • Interest in technology, startups, or digital products
  • Passion for Heads Up’s mission around digital wellness and youth impact

Preferred

  • Experience redesigning or building a full website
  • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles
  • Familiarity with branding or visual identity systems

Eligibility

  • Current undergraduate students graduating 2027 or later (freshman–junior)
