Intern - IT Support

JOB SUMMARY:     

The IT Support Technician Intern is an entry to early-career, part time role responsible for providing frontline technical support to employees across office and jobsite environments. This role focuses on resolving common issues, following established IT procedures, and developing foundational technical skills.

Interns work under the guidance of senior technicians and leadership while demonstrating reliability, attentiveness to detail, and a strong customer-service mindset.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Support & Operations

  • Provide Tier 1 support for endpoints, applications, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot basic Windows and iOS device issues, printers, and accessories
  • Assist with user onboarding, offboarding, and equipment setup
  • Run New hire orientations
  • Set up and troubleshoot basic jobsite and office technology equipment
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately while documenting findings
  • Additional duties assigned per supervisor 

Applications & Access

  • Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Support account access requests and MFA enrollment
  • Assist with license and resource assignments under guidance

Security & Compliance

  • Follow established security policies and device standards
  • Assist with security-related tasks as assigned
  • Report suspected security incidents or risks

Documentation & Ticketing

  • Accurately document all work performed in the ticketing system
  • Follow standard operating procedures and checklists
  • Maintain accurate asset and inventory records

Collaboration & Development

  • Work closely with Senior Technicians for learning and escalation
  • Participate in training, shadowing, and skills development
  • Demonstrate professionalism and customer-focused communication

Decision Authority & Scope

  • Resolves basic technical issues following established procedures
  • Escalates complex or unfamiliar issues promptly
  • Operates under guidance while building confidence and competence

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 0–2 years of IT support or related technical experience
  • Basic understanding of Windows OS and general troubleshooting concepts
  • Comfortable following documented processes and instructions
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong soft skills including attentiveness to detail and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred educational background in IT or Computer Information Systems
  • ITF+ preferred in place of CompTIA A+
  • Exposure to iOS support environments
  • Basic familiarity with Command Prompt, scripting fundamentals, or PowerShell
  • Exposure to UniFi networking equipment or environments
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
