IT Intern

Federal Public Defender Office – District of Utah
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Schedule: Part-Time (10–20 hours per week)
Duration: One-Year Internship
Compensation: $19.58–$31.54 per hour

The Federal Public Defender for the District of Utah provides legal representation to individuals charged with federal crimes who cannot afford an attorney. Our team of attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and administrative professionals is dedicated to protecting the constitutional right to counsel and providing exceptional advocacy throughout Utah.

Position Overview

The Federal Public Defender Office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to support our Information Technology Department. This position will focus primarily on creating, maintaining, and optimizing electronic forms and workflows using JotForm and Adobe products while assisting with technology projects that improve office efficiency and operations.

This internship offers hands-on experience in workflow automation, digital forms management, process improvement, and IT support within the federal judiciary.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain electronic forms and workflows using JotForm.

Collaborate with staff to gather requirements and implement digital solutions.

Test forms and workflows for functionality, usability, and data accuracy.

Assist with form integrations, reporting, and data management.

Maintain process documentation, user guides, and records.

Support IT projects and administrative initiatives.

Assist with basic technical support and troubleshooting.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and digital workflows.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Familiarity with JotForm or similar form-building platforms preferred.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Basic understanding of data management and workflow processes.

Three years of general experience required; relevant education may be substituted for experience.
