Online Sales & Technology Development Specialist
Online Sales & Technology Development Specialist
Ridgeline Bike & Ski
Role Summary
The Online Sales & Technology Development Specialist owns Ridgeline's e-commerce growth and the technology systems that support it. This role is responsible for driving online sales to 15% of total company revenue, ensuring products are accurately represented and discoverable across all digital sales channels, and continuously improving the technology stack — including AI tools — that powers online sales, inventory visibility, and customer experience.
This is a hands-on, technical role: some coding, scripting, and platform configuration is required. The role works closely with the Sales Manager, Merchandiser, and Bookkeeper, and reports to the Sales Manager.
Primary Goal
- Grow online sales to represent 15% of total company revenue, on a timeline and budget approved by the Sales Manager.
- Own the online sales performance metric on an ongoing basis, reporting results, trends, and blockers to the Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
E-Commerce & Sales Growth
- Develop and execute strategies to grow online sales volume and conversion rate toward the 15% revenue target.
- Identify underperforming online listings and recommend pricing, promotion, or merchandising changes.
- Ensure online pricing aligns with overall sales strategy and MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) compliance.
- Recommend creative, Sales Manager-approved tactics (bundling, discounting, promotions) to move inventory that isn't meeting online sales expectations.
Product Visibility & Data Accuracy
- Ensure products display correctly and consistently across the website and any third-party sales channels (correct categories, images, descriptions, variants, and search placement).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues where products are missing, miscategorized, or not appearing where customers expect to find them.
- Import and reconcile inventory and product data from Excel and other sources into the website and inventory platform (e.g., Lightspeed).
Technology Stack & Development
- Maintain working knowledge of the full technology stack supporting online sales (e-commerce platform, inventory system, integrations, and reporting tools).
- Perform light coding/scripting as needed to fix display issues, automate data imports, or improve site functionality (e.g., HTML/CSS, basic scripting or platform-specific customization).
- Evaluate and adopt AI tools to improve product listings, sales insights, and operational efficiency.
- Stay current on e-commerce and retail technology trends and recommend adaptations as the industry changes.
Inventory Coordination
- Partner with the Sales Manager and Merchandiser to ensure promoted products are in stock and available for sale online, consistent with overall merchandising plans.
- Monitor online inventory turns and flag slow-moving or poorly performing products for review.
- Coordinate with the Bookkeeper to confirm budget availability before recommending purchase orders tied to online sales initiatives.
Decision Rights
- Recommends independently: online pricing adjustments, promotional tactics, product page/listing fixes, technology or AI tool adoption.
- Requires Sales Manager approval: final pricing strategy changes, discontinuation of SKUs, purchase orders, and budget-impacting initiatives.
- Requires Bookkeeper confirmation: budget availability before any purchase order is generated.
Qualifications
- Experience with e-commerce platforms and inventory management systems (Lightspeed or similar).
- Comfortable working in Excel for data import/export and reporting.
- Basic to intermediate coding/scripting ability (web/platform customization).
- Familiarity with AI tools applied to sales, merchandising, or operations.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with sales and revenue metrics.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales Manager, Merchandiser, and Bookkeeper.
