Intern, Generation Work Systems Specialist

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

JOB TITLE: Intern, Generation Work Systems Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Generation Work Management – Topeka General Office

LOCATION: Topeka, KS                                      

PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.00 / Hour

 

Internship Position for Summer 2027

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Intern Description:

This internship position will report to and work alongside our Lead Generation Work Systems Specialists in support of our Fossil and Renewables Generation User community – with an emphasis on our new Generation coming online in 2027. 

 

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Master Data management within our Enterprise Asset Management system (Maximo)
  • Troubleshooting system-related issues
  • Remediating system defects and designing system enhancements
  • Supporting Users – responding to issues and inquiries
  • Reviewing User security profiles and processing access requests

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in one of the following or a related technical field: Business Administration, Information Technology, Maintenance & Reliability Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Work System Administration experience is preferred, however not required.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills are needed; as virtually all Work Systems Specialists work will demand critical thinking.
  • Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel. 
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets required.  Proficiency in databases and familiarity with SQL preferred. 
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.

 

Working Conditions:

Normal office working conditions with the potential for some work to be performed remotely, and some work to be performed onsite at our Fossil & Renewables Generation sites.
