Biochip Electrical Engineering intern

The Biochip EE Intern is responsible for working with the bigger instrument team to conceive of, prototype, and test updates and new designs for Cepheid Diagnostic Instruments. They will be expected to bring a desire to learn, grow and apply their insights and knowledge to a project with a tangible output.

 

This position is part of the Biochip, Consumables, and HFE/ID Instrument Engineering and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA at Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply electrical engineering principles in the design and analysis of components and systems
  • Design and set up experiments, collect data, and write test protocol and qualification

reports 

  • Work with Mechanical and Firmware engineers to develop cross-functional system design plans
  • Diagnose and investigate the root-cause of part, assembly, or design failures
  • Get an introduction to the Danaher system for problem solving

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or applied physics
  • Solid understanding and experience with the basics building blocks of electronic circuits (i.e. resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project)
  •  

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Proficiency in a scripting language or excel for data analysis.
  • Some experience in a software schematic capture and or layout tool
