California Reportable Disease Information Exchange Release Manager

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently hiring for a California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE) Release Manager within our Center for Infectious Diseases’ Division of Communicable Disease Control.  

CalREDIE is the statewide surveillance system for infectious diseases, outbreaks, and emergencies, and is used by state and local public health officials for communicable disease reporting and surveillance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a data tracking system for all CalREDIE issues to provide supporting data for CalREDIE releases and change management; analyze existing data collection methods; identify new strategies for collection; and implement a data tracking system with vendor and stakeholders
  • Serve as a liaison between vendor(s), CDPH IT, and the CalREDIE program; ensure that all system changes are appropriately planned, scheduled, and resourced; inform system and data stakeholders of downstream impacts and ensure changes are appropriately accounted for; and develop and maintain project schedules for application upgrades and integrated system changes
  • Provide project management consultation and expertise to the CalREDIE program including, but not limited to, providing regular status updates to management and CalREDIE stakeholders; coordinating and communicating anticipated downtimes and/or impact to system availability; and developing and implementing processes to maintain a release calendar, as well as a “downtime calendar” with planned and unplanned system outages across CalREDIE, the Surveillance and Public Health Information Reporting and Exchange (SaPHIRE) system, the CalREDIE Data Warehouse, and any future integrated system(s)
  • Perform and/or oversee ad hoc status reporting as requested by CalREDIE leadership; document and communicate identified issues succinctly and in a timely fashion, escalating issues when appropriate; produce data visualizations and oral and written reports; advise CalREDIE leadership on system issues; and represent the CalREDIE Stakeholder Support Section during release installation working sessions

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible quantitative and qualitative data research experience engaged in the collection, compilation, analysis, and interpretation of data
  • Extensive knowledge of, and/or experience with, advanced automated processes for capturing data and applying quality control procedures to design and implement complex research projects
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and time management skills
  • Ability to present complex quantitative and qualitative data visually using charts, graphs, tables, and other appropriate methods in order to complete reports and/or develop presentations, as well as facilitate meetings and discussions in a manner that ensures participants remain focused on the intended topic and encourage active participation
