Intern, Data Analytics and Machine Learning

Job Summary:

We are looking for an Intern, Data Analytics and Machine Learning to join the Computational Biology team at Strand Therapeutics. The incoming candidate will work closely with the drug discovery and platform teams to design experiments and analyze data from a variety of sources, including next gen sequencing, flow cytometry, and imaging. The candidate will be expected to work in an innovative, fast-paced, cross-collaborative biotech environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, validate, and deploy software tools for optimizing mRNA therapeutics.
  • Design, implement, and apply machine learning, including deep neural net, models to RNA sequence representation, prediction, and design tasks.
  • Work independently to drive their own project while engaging with cross-functional project teams to support data-driven biological modeling using statistics and machine learning.

 

Qualifications:

  • On track to graduate with a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline; Experience in the biotechnology space is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R), version control (git), databases (SQL or NoSQL), and Unix environments (Linux, shell scripting).
  • Experience with deep neural net libraries (PyTorch, Tensorflow) is a plus.
  • Experience with large, high-dimensional biological or healthcare datasets.
  • Strong collaboration and inter-personal skills. Ability to present data science and computational concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet important deadlines
