Web and Graphic Design Internship

For more than 18 years, the Functional Food Center (FFC) has promoted research for further development and commercialization of functional foods for chronic diseases. Join us in the innovative work we do- either by organizing conferences, writing textbooks, or publishing peer-reviewed articles in the journal of Functional Foods in Health and Disease (FFHD). We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented interns who are eager to learn and hone new skills. We especially welcome students who are looking for an internship with academic credit.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting in the design and development of layouts for marketing materials
  • Being responsible for incorporating current design trends into each unique layout to produce an up-to-date style for custom ads
  • Updating the website and web page with new content and imaging
  • Designing layout for abstract books and textbooks
  • Designing handouts (badges, notebooks, bags, etc.) for conferences
  • Scientific research alongside a mentor, with the goal of publication

Requirements:

  • University student or recent college graduate (Web/graphic design, Marketing, PR, Computer Science, or Communications-related majors are welcome to apply)
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Knowledge of Mac OS and software upgrades and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • 15-20 hours/week - flexible schedule (200 hours in total)

  • Graphic Design: Enhancing skills in layout design for marketing materials, abstract books, and conference handouts.
  • Web Development: Updating website content and imaging to contribute to online presence.
  • Scientific Research: Engaging in research alongside mentors, aiming for publication.
  • Project Management: Learning to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Professional Development: Receiving guidance and feedback from experienced professionals.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Interacting with professionals in the field and understanding the importance of collaboration.

Supervision:

Interns will be under the supervision of Dr. Martirosyan and our experienced team at the Functional Food Center. Throughout the internship, they will receive comprehensive guidance and support to ensure a fulfilling learning experience. In instances where academic credit is sought, it is mandatory to be supervised by Dr. Danik Martirosyan. Academic Credit:

While this is an unpaid internship, we offer the possibility of academic credits to students who require them for their academic programs. Additionally, upon completion of the internship, interns will receive certificates and other benefits outlined below.

- One free conference registration within 12 months of the internship.
