Network Engineer
The Louisiana Tech Infrastructure and IT department is seeking to fill a position on its professional staff for a Network Engineer to work with the university network.
Requirements:
- A college degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field, or relevant IT experience
- In depth knowledge of IPV4/IPV6 protocols
- Understanding of routing principles and protocols.
- In depth knowledge of layer 2 networking, with emphasis on Ethernet based systems with EVPN/VXLAN.
- Demonstrated understanding of 802.11 based wireless networks.
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Positive interaction with Center staff and University community
Preference given to candidates with experience in:
- Motivated, self-starting individual able to work independently
- Experience with network automation tools.
- Experience with Clearpass for policy based network role assignments
- Experience with Juniper and/or Aruba hardware.
- Ability to learn and execute operational procedures in ever changing environment
- Strong customer service orientated, attention to details and accuracy.
- Good problem solving skills
This professional will work with other members of the university staff to maintain, operate and develop the university network. Responsibilities include:
- Design, manage, and maintain university data network.
- Install and configure data network hardware and software as required.
- Interface with users and third party vendors in support of network problem resolution.
