Tech Catalyst Intern: Data Engineering
The Hartford’s Tech, Data, Analytics and Cyber organization is providing development support on The Hartford’s critical data assets. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in immersive meaningful work, mentorship and coaching, and training with a goal of building skillsets in alignment to the entire software development lifecycle process in support of information data projects.
This role is a hybrid position located in Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities
- Gain mentorship and coaching relative to data engineering and Hartford best practices.
- Partner with various parts of the organization to build a working knowledge of the organization, business, processes, and its customers.
- Learn and utilize data pipelines built using Python, ETL, PL/SQL and cloud native technologies to develop data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc.
- Leverage data mining and Business Intelligence tools to analyze large amounts of data identifying relationships and patterns within the data.
- Solve a range of core business and technical questions through data analysis.
- Work is guided by more senior members of the team.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate students expecting to graduate in May 2026 with a bachelor’s degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Desired majors include, but are not limited to: Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, and Applied Mathematics
- Evidence of previous knowledge in data modeling, data warehousing tools, and databases (e.g., Python, SQL, Git, and any programming language experience is a plus)
- Possess the technical skills to transform, manipulate and store data; the analytical skills to relate the data to the business processes that generates it and the communication skills to disseminate information regarding the availability, quality, and other characteristics of the data to a diverse audience.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
