Intern, Business Intelligence (Summer 2025)
Summary
Join F&G as a Summer 2025 intern and gain relevant experience, professional development and incredible networking at a growing company. The Business Intelligence Intern work with other Analytics and Data Management team members. Supports the Actuarial team in a variety of tasks around data analysis, data exploration, report dashboarding, and data prep.
Organization
This position reports directly to the Analytics and Data Management Team and interacts with other members of the Actuarial organization.
Internship Activities
Listed below are some of the different data governance and analytical activities that the intern may be asked to do.
- Obtain an understanding of data processes and business data needs
- Meet with business users to discuss data shortfalls and gather business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications
- Assist with developing automated reports and dashboards using Tableau, SQL Server Management Studio, Excel and other reporting applications
- Clearly convey key insights or the “story” the data reveals in a visual format that is grouped, summarized, or formatted to be easily understood and with a clear call to action
- Work with developers to automate reports and processes
- Work with team members to document and apply Tableau best practices and the life cycle of a dashboard at F&G
- Utilizing applications such as Alteryx, create ETL processes to load and extract data from various data sources to support information analytics
- Assist Tableau Server users with problem resolution and report access questions
Experience & Education Requirements
- Pursuing Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Information Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Data Science
- Student with a 3.0 GPA or above
- Experience with operating systems and commercial software (MS Office, Adobe, )
- Understanding of data prep and dashboarding principles including; visualization, parameters and report optimization
- Strong understanding of SQL development with the ability to write complex SQL queries
- Customer and results oriented
- Strong technical documentation ability
- Strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based development projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Tableau Software is preferred
- Experience with Life Insurance and Indexed Annuity data preferred
