Position Name: Information Security Systems Engineer Level IV – EMS

Location (City/State/Zip Code): Colorado Springs, CO (Work on-site)

BESL is seeking a qualified Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) with a strong Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cyber background. Duties will be conducted in Colorado Springs, CO while working in an on-site environment. The ISSE must be proficient with the RMF accreditation processes as well as an overall understanding of IT architecture. Must have experience with Linux (Red Hat), Windows and Cisco environments and agile system development processes. The ISSE provides leadership and technical execution support of information security activities associated with the authorization and accreditation (AA) of information systems. They assist the program in the development of, policies and procedures for, emerging security technologies and proposals. The ISSE supports security certification and vulnerability assessment activities, as required. Additionally, they support the evaluation, qualification, testing and delivery of security architecture improvement, and obsolescence replacement. The ISSE supports information assurance data collection and continuous monitoring activities for assigned information systems.

Position requires the following:

- Must have Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent (DoD 8140 Advanced Certification)

- Must have a demonstrated understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system architecture, as well as automation of system deployments

- Experience in securing Linux/Unix Information System Security requirements to include archiving audit log data

- Experience in writing and managing RMF body of evidence documents (e.g., System Security Plan (SSP), Security Compliance Traceability Matrix (SCTM), Risk Assessment Report (RAR), Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) Plan, and Security Assessment Plans and Procedures (SAPP)).

- 2+ years’ experience as an ISSE (or equivalent position) overseeing cybersecurity on classified or unclassified systems per NISPOM Chapter 8, NIST 800-53 or NIST 800-171

- Have practical experience running security compliance scans and interpreting vulnerability scanning results (Nessus, SCAP)

- Experience with application of Secure Template Implementation Guides (STIGs).

- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), agile system development, and DevSecOps tools and processes.

- Self-motivation, able to work independently and within inter-disciplinary engineering teams.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Must be able to achieve and maintain a DOD Security clearance

- Must be a U.S. citizen

- Must maintain a valid passport

Preferred Skills:

- Red Hat Certification – RHCSE or RHCSA

- Ability to support critical operations during standard, and occasionally, non-standard working hours

Education/Certifications: 

- Graduate degree and/or 2 years’ experience 

- Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years’ experience

- DOD 8140 Advanced Certification is required - CISSP

Pay Data (Range): $100,000 - $125,000

BESL complies with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary range for this particular effort in Colorado is approximately $100,000 - $125,000

Clearance Requirement: Must be able to achieve and maintain a DOD Security clearance
