Position Summary
We are seeking an Associate Data Engineer to join our growing Data Engineering team! The Associate Data engineer will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end ETL development of data pipelines leveraging big data technologies. Under supervision of Senior and Principal Data Engineer, the Associate Data Engineer will contribute to the development of End-to-End data pipeline, Data Transformations, and Data Visualizations for our downstream data consumers.
Job Responsibilities:
- ETL development using PySpark and Snowflake.
- Assist in orchestration of ETL workflows with Airflow.
- Partner with cross-functional team members to understand and clarify data requirements.
- Develop unit tests and data quality checks to verify that data transformations are matching business requirements.
- Execute ad-hoc data transfers from various systems (on-prem to cloud, etc.)
- Document data flows and processes using diagrams.
- Participate in code review process to learn best practices and refine code quality and performance.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, with Minimum 2 years of Experience in data engineering or a related field OR master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field with Minimum 1 year of Experience in data engineering
- Basic to intermediate Python and SQL Skills including 1+ years of demonstrated experience
- Experience with Big Data tools such as Apache Airflow, Snowflake, or Databricks
- Basic cloud knowledge in AWS, GCP, or Azure a plus
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong desire to learn, adapt, and contribute to a rapidly evolving data landscape.
- Maintain controls, reporting and transparency necessary to comply with customer and BCBSA confidentiality, HIPAA, PHI and PII standards, as well as SOC2 and HiTrust certifications
