The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (USPS OIG) has an opportunity for you! The USPS OIG is seeking students enrolled in college/university programs to fill our Student Cooperative - (Paid) position in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) located in Arlington, VA or Raleigh, NC. An OCIO Student Co-op role is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in IT leadership, strategy, and operations. The OCIO Student Co-op will work closely with IT teams to support technology initiatives, cybersecurity strategies, and digital transformation efforts. This role provides exposure to enterprise IT Innovation, Process Automation & Efficiency, Data Analysis & Visualization, Application Development, Cloud & Digital Transformation and Stakeholder Communications.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends.  

• Develop and customize SharePoint solutions to optimize document management, workflows, and collaboration tools.  

• Support cloud-based initiatives by assisting with tasks related to the Microsoft Azure platform.  

• Design and implement Power Apps applications to streamline business processes and enhance user experience.  

• Create and manage automated workflows using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.  

• Build Power BI reports and dashboards to transform raw data into actionable insights for decision-making.  

• Help optimize IT operations and improve efficiency. 

 • Assist with cybersecurity alerts, analysis, and infrastructure security risk reduction.  

• Collaborate with teams to enhance enterprise applications and workflow automation.  

• Participate in meetings with vendors and stakeholders. 

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS  

• Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.  

• Experience with SharePoint development, including site customization, workflow automation, and integration.  

• Familiarity with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools such as Power Automate Desktop. 

• Strong understanding of SQL, DAX, and data modeling for Power BI reporting.  

• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, OneDrive, and Azure.  

• Familiarity with IT governance, cybersecurity, and cloud computing is a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

You must meet ALL the minimum requirements. 

• Students must be currently enrolled full or half-time in an accredited college or university. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPT STATING CURRENT ENROLLMENT STATUS, GPA AND IN GOOD STANDING - an unofficial transcript from the university is acceptable. May be required to produce an official transcript prior to receipt of a formal offer.) 

• Must be in academic good standing as defined by the accredited college or university, earning at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale. 

• Must be currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Business, or a related field. 

• Must be able to report to work year-round in the USPS OIG office. (Minimum one-year commitment)
