What I liked
I loved how welcoming everyone was and how I was able to participate in something I was not familiar with. Also, I had a goal to take the Sec+ exam and everyone was so encouraging during that time.
What I wish was different
I wish I was in person to get the true feel of being a government employee and having to metro to work everyday. Also, my job would have been more hands-on if we were in person.
Advice
Always be willing to learn even if it’s something you aren’t passionate about. You will be able to apply that knowledge in other places in your life.

What I liked
The culture was very welcoming and supportive. I was given meaningful work and many opportunities to learn. Pay was also really good. I liked the fact that we had these little intern groups.
What I wish was different
Nothing really, besides the fact that it had to be virtual due to the pandemic. The internship was great even considering the virtual nature. They adapted really well.

What I liked
Ownership and independence on big projects that have serious impact on the work done by the teams at the Fed - in that sense, you contribute to something very meaningful. Also, ability to see the policy / finance realm from the perspective of a regulator; seeing how the Fed interacts with the public and market participants is a very unique perspective.
What I wish was different
A little bit more structure - however the tradeoff is that my project gave me tons of responsibility and independence.
Advice
The Fed is a great place to be intellectually. Especially if you want to take a critical lens to public policy or finance, having an insiders perspective is very thought provoking and interesting.

Make the best of your time where you are and be open to learn! Don't be afraid to try new things because you have to start somewhere.

What I liked
There was excellent hands on experience in every aspect of my field and all of my work was very comprehensive. I was well integrated into my team and I wasn't just treated like an intern. The intern events hosted by the staff there were very helpful and a great opportunity to expand your horizons.
What I wish was different
The pace of the internship was a little uneven; I started out waiting for work to come in but then I had many things to finish by the end of my time.
Advice
Be patient with the system and enjoy your time at the Board because it's a fantastic environment to learn and grow in.
