Schneider Electric

Software Test Engineer Intern

November 2021 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I loved getting to learn about the company and become an integral part of the development team that I worked on. I feel that I really learned a lot and now I'm really well prepared for the job that I'm going to be taking with the company.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more year-round interns so that I could've had a larger social circle.

Advice

If you have the opportunity to take a long term internship, then do it. You will be extremely hirable for the field as you will have accumulated more experience and you won't have an issue finding job offers that you like and are excited about.

Digital Marketing Intern

May - August 2021 • Foxborough, MA

What I liked

Culture was great! Everyone was really willing to help on projects when needed and they took the time to understand your career goals and what projects they could assign to help you reach those goals. The industry was new to me, and my colleagues did a great job teaching me about the different business units and services/products sold. Additionally, I was given a lot of autonomy over my own projects and could tell that the projects I was doing had a large impact on the business. For example, my division released a new product in August, and I had full ownership over helping create and organizing the marketing materials (social media posts, email blasts, etc) that were disseminated to our clients. They also started a weekly intern series event for ten weeks where they provided career development workshops to all interns and opportunities for bonding - such a great way to enhance the virtual experience.

What I wish was different

Onboarding process was a little bit messy, but this was mainly attributed to the internship being virtual and everyone adapting.

Advice

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there! Always go the extra mile and they will return the favor back to you.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

June 2019 • Lincoln, NE

What I liked

The people at Schneider are amazing. They are always willing to help out and answer any questions you have. They are super welcoming too.

What I wish was different

They give you projects so there is never a dull moment which I really love. If you are looking for a job where you do the same exact thing everyday this is not the right place for you.

Advice

Do not hesitate to reach out and talk to employers. I was really scared but I practiced what I would say on the phone and when the time came it all worked out.

Advice

I would advise that you apply after having a base technical knowledge. It was hard trying to keep up with everything, while still learning how to navigate Excel.

Regulated Markets Intern

March 2018 - August 2019 • Louisville, KY

ASK QUESTIONS. The best way to learn is by doing the task and asking questions when need be. It also helps build trust with your employer if they know you will ask them questions if you're not positive about what you're doing.

Procurement Assistant Intern

August - September 2019 • Dubai, Emirate of Dubai

What I liked

I enjoyed the team I was working with and the high amount of support they provide to newcomers

What I wish was different

The location was inconvenient for me since they had a location right next to my house instead of a one hour journey to work. It would have been nice to have flexibility once I was trusted to do my work accordingly

Advice

I would love to share that you don't always have to specifically apply for the jobs you are completing your degree for, having a little background in other divisions increases the level of overall skills and attributes you gain by working at a company, for example in this internship I managed to learn SAP ERP. This will definitely be useful in the future and a good addition to my CV

What I liked

So far the company has been great to work for! The people are nice and supportive and the position applies to my major.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

Even though I was able to apply my classroom knowledge to this position, often there were times where I needed to use critical thinking to solve problems instead. Also, this role really taught me how to communicate with others and work with a diverse set of people.

Inside Sales Consultant

June 2018 • Costa Mesa, CA

What I liked

I respect how the company prioritizes sustainability in their business practices, and as a graduate of the Environmental Economics program, this was something I looked for in companies. The role is outside of my comfort zone, so I am learning and growing a lot from it. APC provides comprehensive training for new hires which was a great way to transition into the role and get to know my coworkers! Most of the people at the office are very young, which makes for a fun and engaging environment.
